There has been new Google search research from SimilarWeb that shows from Jan to December 2020 65% of searches on Google (desktop and mobile combined) ended in the search results without clicking to another web property. That number is probably not counting most voice searches. This is a deceiving statistic because you can click on a phone number or pronunciation icon and it falls into the grouping of zero clicks.
If you have been reading on some SEO blogs you might have seen this acronym pop up called EAT, which is short for Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness. In May 2019 Google updated its algorithm to show the importance of EAT. Now, it is a major ranking factor in determining page quality. If you want to make sure your SEO game is high you need to let Google and the user know you are the expert, or your rankings will never good up and your customers will not trust you enough to buy from you.

Recently Forbes wrote an article called “The New SEO Rules For 2020: It’s No Longer About The Backlinks.” I have to be honest I didn’t know Forbes considered themselves and authority on SEO but after doing some research they have a lot of articles around SEO and most of them have very general information that is overall correct. However, in this specific article, they say “Backlinks are out” which really triggered me. I usually let a statement like this roll off my back but because it was Forbes saying this I felt the need to explain why they are wrong.
